Homeopathy is a complete system of medicine which works on the principle that a disease can be cured by a medicine which, when given to healthy people, produces similar symptoms to that disease.

How Does Homeopathy Work?

By aiding the body’s own healing powers when a stimulus is needed. A common cold may take its own course, but more serious ailments make greater demands and the Homeopathic remedy aids the body’s curative powers.

Homeopathy doesn’t just relieve symptoms; it helps the patient deal with the causes of illness and regain good health. We do not treat physical and emotional symptoms separately; they are all aspects of the person’s condition.

Homeopathy acts deeply but is very gentle, so it is an ideal form of treatment for everybody, including babies, pregnant women and older people. It is particularly helpful for women and children.

Homeopathy builds solid foundations for good health throughout life.

How Did Homeopathy Start?

In 1796 a German doctor, Samuel Hahnemann, developed a different approach to cure of the sick based on the Law of Similars - treating like with like. A patient with, for example, insomnia, would be given a minute dose of a substance which, in crude doses, causes sleeplessness - Coffee bean, for example.

Your First Appointment

Your first consultation will last about an hour, giving plenty of time to talk about your illness. In the course of this you should feel that the seemingly separate parts of your life come together with your symptoms and begin to make sense. It is helpful to consider the following areas and gather any information you can:

  • a detailed history of you & your health
  • childhood illnesses (especially in adulthood)
    (measles, whooping cough etc.)
  • vaccinations and any reactions to them
  • family history of serious illness
  • medication you take or have taken
